Fava beans appetizer


1 can of fava beans


Crushed garlic, 1 tbs harissa,


½ tsp of cumin, 1tbs olive oil


On a medium heat, pour the content of the can in a small sauce pan (including the water)


Add the harissa, garlic, cumin and olive oil. Stir well and cover. Leave it for 5 minutes. Serve it warm


 


Typical Tunisian spicy barbecue sauce:



2tbs of harissa berbere, 1tbs of minced onion, 4tbs of olive oil, chopped parsley



Mix the harissa with the olive oil, minced onion and chopped parsley.



Arrange a plate with harissa on the middle and onion and parsley around


Harissa Tradition

The harissa was born in Nabeul, Tunisia, a small city that hosts an annual Harissa Trade Fair.


It is the most commonly used condiment of the North African cuisines and has been named the "New Sriracha" by the Washington Post (2017).
